Breed of Men

What’s with the new breed of men?! Or, is it that they have always been like that and that’s why called ‘Men are from Mars’!
Well, I sincerely feel appalled by their attitude and fail to understand the perspective.

Recently, some incidents have happened which brought to the fore, the man’s no-interest in moving from hometown, or leaving parents, or going for the unknown.
I don’t know what to make of it. Is it their inability to take risks? Is it their fear of losing out on the most important thing in their life – the family (read ‘parents’), or is it pure laziness.
My husband and my brother, both are classic examples I’ve seen. And, after discussing with fellow women, I came to know that it’s the same story everywhere.

You may counter that this brings about a balance between the man and the woman’s relation. But, I beg to differ.
Peace, stability, contentedness are all important but when made a priority over other things, they hamper growth, and make you incapable of grabbing opportunities that could be coming your way.
Tarun says he understands that he’s the content one and am the ambitious one, so that’s good for our relationship. But, I don’t seem to be satisfied with just that answer and knowledge.
I need more action in life than that.

I know parents are important. I know they need to be taken care of. But, if you start twisting your actions and your decisions to make room for them, and when your own personal endeavors start getting affected from that, then I think you need to take the call. You need to understand that moving on is important. What’s with the emotions and the putra-dharma they bring into the debate.
I hate it coz there’s no counter argument to that.

I used to ask Tarun to look for opportunities or try for option outside NCR too. In our industry, the options in NCR are very limited and in early times, you can make good use of the shift. Later on, the same switch may not be as much useful but more burden.

In our first half-year of marriage, it was my fault - it was too early for me to convince him and too early for us to think of switching locations.
In our second half-year of marriage, his reason : I was pregnant and needed all the family support so we should not be talking of location  change.
In our second year, first half- of marriage, his reason: Anay is too small and you cannot even think of working without them, how can you talk of location change!?
Now, when I talk of it, with Anay crossed 1 year, we settled in our marriage, in our jobs…his reason: It’s only now things have settled, I cannot uproot them and the family. Once Anay grows up to 4-5 years, we can think of it. But, not now.

@#%#$&$#!$%#@$^@$&@. Well! I think these are all lame excuses. The basic one is that he won’t move. After 4-5 years, when Anay starts going to school, when parents become more older, who in their right mind thinks, a switch is possible!????

And, my brother, he’s epitome of this syndrome. He left his high paying job and moved to lesser paying  job because the earlier one used to send him to different places for 20 days or so, without any prior notice. At the age of 23, he talks of stability and peace as most important than growth and challenges. :O (I wish I could use some symbol to show my eyes popping out of the sockets!)

And, if you thought this is my specific case, trust me, you’ll be having a similar story to tell once it comes to you.
Lazy Ass Holes!

A thought triggered by Richard Bach

I am reading 'Illusions' by Richard Bach. A sudden thought struck me while reading it, yesterday.

We all have heard that the Hindu Mythology says that a person goes through 'chaurasi lakh yoniyan' (84 lacs species/births as non-humans) before he gets a human body again.
We mostly believe that the number refers to our lives as animals, or other species on this earth. But, I had a different possibility that struck me.
Is it possible that it refers to not different species on this earth but our births in 84 lacs different cosmos. That is, we are born in Milky Way once, then we die and travel to a different realm, or whatever that's called, cosmic region.
So, in a way, Hindu Mythology is telling us that there are 84 lac more realms apart from Earth, where life exists, travelling in space, without our knowledge. Maybe, just maybe, some day we get to know them. Just like we came to know about elements, then atom, then proton/neutron/electron and now we know that even an atom consists of many more than just those three.

I admit, I miss

Lots of people wish to go abroad, for more money, I guess. I never dreamt of that, atleast not till I went there. And now, I have joined the thousands other in the wish-ious circle.
But, it's not the money.

I miss the clean sunshine in the morning.
I miss my lonely walk from home to bus stop, watching people going for their run, old people taking the dog for a walk, the ducks in the lake under the small bridge which I crossed every morning.
The occasional rush to not to miss the bus.
I had a bus stop much closer to my house. But, I never took that. Reason? I would have to wake up 10 minutes early for that and take the bus 20 minutes early. Plus, I would miss the walk.

I miss the casual 'hello' the elderly couple /strangers gave me there. I miss the warmth and helping feeling strangers gave to fellow people. No one grows suspicious if someone comes over to talk.
I can never imagine being happy about it here. Rather, I would be suspicious if someone hello'ed me here.

I miss the Starbucks cold coffee that we used to get at Lucky stores. I remember having gone at 8.00 at night, for that, when I messed up my SP Jain interview. It was all dark. All stranded roads and alleys. Of course, the place was not very up-market to be at that time of the day. I don't think even Downtown used to be a suitable place to be at that time of the day, in US. But,  I would remember the walk. Always. It was a milestone in my life. A major one.

I miss the Home Store. I remember wishing to have a home which I could decorate with all the pretty, silly things you could get for the patio. You could buy small flower pots, which would stay for a few days, and then die out. I kept a small one for some time. I am no gardener. I don't think that's a direction I would ever take, but I wouldn't mind having an indoor plant, no maintenance, sometime.

Plus, the DIY option. Yesterday, I told Tarun I wanted to paint the shelf we had got made for our room. It's not yet polished. He protested saying it gives out a very fowl smell as it uses spirit in varnish. So, I should not be doing that. I insisted. He said 'Ok, you search on what all you need and you do it.' He knows he'll never let me do that, but wants to get rid of the current situation of argument. :) He really knows how to tackle me. But, I sincerely loved the DIY option in West. There was a 'The Home Store' and one more...totally forgotten the name. It had all the locks n handles n stuff. If you lose a key, or need to change a lock, you got to do it all yourself. You cannot afford a keywala. You had to pick a key, put it in a machine, put another one which you want as a copy, and get the copy of the original made. So, pretty much everything you do in your home, you have to do it yourself. Now, how fascinating to be handling those heavy machines. Of course, you would be just pushing a button, but still. I think it would be great to feel in-control of those giant metals-pieces.

Now, it seems pretty fairy-tale to be building your own home and you may feel, that you would get tired of it. It's much better when you can chose n pick what to do yourself and get things done by someone else otherwise.
But, don't you think how beautiful your home would be if you did it all yourself?
There would be a bit of you in every part of your home. The paint, the fences, the decor, the wallpaper. And, you are not just an IT engineer who loses everything if the silly box called computer loses its importance. You would be worth much more. You would know how to 'do' something. Actually do something.

I miss the control on my life. I miss USA.

Interviews and Confidence

I'm quite in high spirits these days. And, it all can be contributed to a couple of calls I took last Friday.

I had a call with my US Manager. Ever since I joined my current company, I used to have one-to-one calls with her occasionally but I was never comfortable with her. Reasons?
1. I never met her and she was supposed to be my manager. I think I feel more comfortable talking to someone once I've seen a person's eyes.
2. We never got time to talk beyond professional work. I think I need some personal touch to the work relation, even if it's from a distance. I don't need to be knowing your children's friends name, but I definitely need some sort of personalization, when I start working with you.

On Friday, we had a long call and I spoke of things quite open-heartedly. It was the first time I spoke candidly and openly with her. Feeling relieved, content and happy. Not to mention, she appreciated my work and felt I put in a lot of passion to my work. I was so happy on hearing this word from her. I don't know why but it really is the first thing that comes to my mind, when I think of our conversation, and the reason why I could be so happy. Despite the fact that she turned down my request for promotion, that I seriously needed in my career plans. But, she's a good manager and brought a lot of things to perspective. There were no false lies, no false promises, no round-round talks, beating around the bush. I really like that in professionals working in US. They will be open about the facts. All in all, happy and excited about my work.

Second thing that happened on Friday was an interview. I have been taking couple of interviews outside my company, just for the sake of analysing my performance, and my position in the industry. Tarun suggested me to this direction. 2 years ago, I couldn't even imagine myself doing such a thing. Interview, that too, for practice. Totally, so not me! :)
But, I've given interviews for 3 companies, like this now. Multiple technical rounds. Right till HR. And, the least I can say about this experience is - enriching. I have not passed in all of them. I failed in one. That one was really a good experience. I passed through in two. I'm waiting for the offer letter, pretty much. But, I know I'm not going there.

I am happy to see myself content with my work here. I am happy to see that I'm in no hurry to switch just for the sake of money or better position. Of course, I'll be getting both. I am happy to see that there's an expert in me in Technical Domain in Electronics. This means a lot. And, I owe this feeling totally to my better half. No kidding. No formalities. Truth to the core.

Happy Happy!

Regrets

I've always said that I never regret. I always believe that whatever I did, whatever happened to me in my life, I take it as a learning. If anything bad happened, I try and take it as an experience and learn from my mistakes. But, today, I'm feeling regretful. For so many things in my life. Perhaps, it's the sign of my aging. Of my becoming an adult, of having lost my childhood and innocence.

I've often mentioned that I feel like my passion and my destiny doesn't lie in being an engineer. I keep looking for something else that I could be doing better...where I would excel and be considered the norm, considered the best. I don't know if that feeling is real or if it's a notion that I've so long believed that it seems real. I'll have to thank god for knocking that sense into me, when I was in US, which turned me to see the light and made me understand what my job means. It helped me understand my work better. It gave me the courage to change from my job at my previous company to my new one. Here, I have realized my worth and found that I'm not a dumb blonde who understands nothing and speaks a lot. I'm an expert in my field and I understand when a fellow person speaks to me technically. I'll have to accept that it has given me a lot of self-respect that I so needed.

But, whenever I think of the alternate course, that I wish I could take, my search never ends. I keep thinking of what else could I do to make me more successful. Empty ambitions, they are, as I call it. But, that's not the point of the post. The point is that I've recently realized, I never followed my gut feelings. I was a coward. And, I still am.

When I was in Class 10th, I always used to tell people that I would take commerce, as I never liked Science. Being a sincere student, I did manage to do fine in it and get good marks, but I never enjoyed it. But, after 10th, my dad showed me some paper cut-outs of students who had done well in Engineering, got into IITs. How they are doing so well. Just 2 years of hard work and the complete life is set. It just took him a few seatings to convince me to take Science. And, here I am, an Engineer. I regret not having followed my heart then.

After 12th, when I gave my engineering exams, I did fine. I had a seat in an engineering college and an admission into B.El.Ed course (it's a teaching course for elementary schools). My parents did a lot of debating on whether I should join B.Tech or B.El.Ed. I remember my Mom telling me 'I would like you to do something with a creative bend in it. I know you'll do good there and be more happy.' And, I remember how I just remembered the hard work I had put into the 2 years of preparation and scoffer her off. And, taken the admission. Now, I regret not taking the B.El.Ed course. I miss having that creative, artistic bend in my life. I maybe earning big bucks, but the contentment is not there. I'm always running away from my reality, as they say.

I don't know if there's any way I can mend those things. But, I know that having failed my heart then, I don;t have the courage to follow my heart now. Even now, when my heart tells me differently, I let the things be, and do nothing. I've understood, or perhaps, given up, on the fact, that I'm just a thinker and never a doer.

I wish it was otherwise.

The Social Network

In this world of virtual realities, I'm still grappling to find my own. Call it generation gap, if you insist. The world that we grew in consisted of people you met, as part of your world. Today, people you've never met, people you may never meet ever, people who were your staunch enemies, people you were happy to be strangers with, all are part of your friend circle. In a way, they are part of your world.

I've always believed that the world we live in consists of things 'you' personally wish to consist of. If you believe in ghosts, you'll have ghosts in your life. Whether as a memory of a dark lane, or whether as your darkest fears of your life. If you believe the world is full of miracles by God, you will definitely have one that would have happened in your own life. If you've understood the idea, read on.

So, this point of social networking with 'real' strangers is odd to me. It brings so many unidentified people and things into my life, of which I'm not aware of. There are people who would be regularly watching over my Facebook Profile or Wall, or reading me regularly on my blog, without my knowledge, least, my permission. I don't like that. One of my friends, old friends, told me through an e-mail that they read my blog and prefer not to comment. I respect their choice. I am happy that they read and I know about it. But, like them, there must be others, who read and do not comment, and 'should not' be here. I dislike that.

All the hollywood movies that I've seen 'Enemy of the state', 'I.Robot' et al come to my mind, making me revisit what all I've written here. Whether there's anything I shouldn't have... I just want to write, have some friends/genuine people read, who have no other intention than to read the writings of fellow humans, and no other purpose of following/stalking me. I don't want unknown people.

It was fine till I had no clue about it. But, with recent blogger profile, I know there are people, number much more than my follower list, who read me, without my knowledge. Thanks to Stats section.

What is it that I can do.

Schools

Ever since I know, I've wanted to give the best education to my son. While I understand that a child learns more from his home than his school, I want to ensure that the atmosphere he gets at his school is good too.
Now, there are loads and loads of schools in Delhi and a brand name in their own way. But, with the competition and the business that has got into education, I'm quite perplexed. I don't know what to do, how to look for the right school for my child. I'm ready to shift my state if need be, for Anay's schooling. Sounds far fetched? But, that's how desperate the situation is.

More than the name, I want Anay to get a school where he can explore his potential. He can try various things and find out what he likes most. Now, most schools have various extra-curricular activities in their curriculum but I find many of the new additions, quite irrelevant. While I don't mind Anay learning golf or horse-riding, I find them included just because they are expensive. I think the simple sports like football, skating etc can also be equal fun to the child. I mean, schools used to take kids to out-bound trip because they were a good experience for kids to go out of the parents' care and security. But, now schools have International trips to arrange for that. I don't see any sense or reason on why a trip needs to be international and cannot be in-country.

Do you understand the predicament? The point is schools are getting more materialistic and are drifting from the idea of teaching values, ideas to kids. They are more involved in making things attractive and popular for parents. More ideas on how to extract more money from the parents.
Another example: Schools telling parents that at the end of the play-school year, we'll give you a hard-bound photo album of your kid playing in school. If a parent wants to opt out of the option (thanks to digi-cams, parents have loads of clicks of their kid in action), then that's not possible. Also, how can schools do "Only these students have paid for the album, so rest of you, shoo!"

So, the schools themselves are bringing in more and more ways of putting inferiority/superiority complex in kids. Teaching them that what it means to have money or not to have money, or having a rich dad/poor dad.

Man! Am quite concerned. I don't want to send Anay to any such school. I want him to go to a school where the concentration is more on giving him a healthy environment than a wealthy one.

Any ideas on how I can find out such a school? On where I can find info about the various schools.

What's your problem?

This is a hate post. Frustrated one. Please don't read.

Whenever I tell Tarun that I want to live separate, he asks me the same question - "What is the problem that you have here?"
It's been 2 yrs and the question still persists. The problem still persists. I never could pin down my problem. I always told him some on-the-fly issues that I was facing. He would patiently hear me out. Then he would resolve them by giving me some perspective, some alternates and some love. And, I would feel like everything's fine and am unnecessarily creating fuss. And, within a few days, I would be back to the point where I started - feeling miserable.
This has been a periodic process for me ever since I got married. I never could get him to agree to him, and I never could get myself to accept the circumstances as my fate and get used to it.
I blamed it on my MIL, I blamed it on my Parenting, I sometimes blamed it on Office too. But, I think nothing was ever the real reason.
The real reason is that I want freedom. I want my peace of mind. I need my space. I never get that in this setting. I have the freedom to do anything I want. My MIL never stops me but she can never appreciate it, I know. She may accept it for me but she can never understand it, I know. And, that makes me uncomfortable. She wants company, she wants everything together. And, I want things secluded. I want things personal. I like to keep them that way. I am right there, or I am wrong, why do I need to decide that? Everyone gets to be the way they are, then why can't I be left to be the way I am?! Why am I expected to change, to adjust, to understand? Why the hell, why??!
He says that things are so simple and Anay is so taken care of by them. They do so much in helping you. So much of your work is done and taken care of. You've no sense of thankfulness. I agree that no maid can take care of Anay the way they can. But, had it not been for them, I would have taken some different steps for taking care of Anay. My child would be mine. Now, he's not mine at all. Now, the time I spent with him is so sparing and occasional, that I need to think what to do, when and if I ever get it. On the contrary, the case should be that I have some regular plan of doing something new with him. Whether it's teaching him something new, or it's engaging him in something unique, or it is just playing with him casually. It never is. I want the freedom to raise my child 'my way'.
I have got so disappointed with my life that I don't wish to live it any further. I have got so detached with human relations, so inconsiderate towards them, that I want to forget them all, and run away. And, this all comes to me only when am in office. When I am back at home, I am most docile and happy a lady. At least the picture is so. I am never rash with anyone, and never cross the line.

I wonder the problem is the home or the office.

Man and the Machine

Well, this is not a mistake. I'm not talking about Man 'vs' Machine here but Man 'and' the Machine here. I don't think machines are bad and shouldn't have been there at all but I'm also a part of the clan who fear that too much mechanization may overpower Man.

Machines and more n more automated machines are ruling our world like never before. The amount of advancement Technology has done in past 5 years, it hasn't happened in even, perhaps, ten years before that. Just look around you and you'll see yourself so submerged into it that you've started doubting that life existed otherwise. We are the generation that grew up without telephone(even landline, forget mobile), cameras (forget digi-cams), for some of us, even cars.

Today, almost all of us are aspiring photographers who talk of DSLRs and camera modes on our pictures. We don't have just telephones but our integrated with Android et al. Well, as long as this technology was keeping to technology domain, it was fine but now, it has started inter-mingling with our day-to-day lives too. We're moving into the times when automation is creeping into our lives. The most innate part of our household is kitchen and to name a few, every kitchen which any of today's generation woman sets up has - a microwave-oven and a food processor...at the least.

Now, you would ask what's wrong with having a MWO or an FP? Well, I grew up in a house-hold where my mom used to spend hours in the kitchen to give us various stuff. Namak-paare, Aate ke laddoo, Til ke Laddoo, Gaajar ka Halwa. Ohh, I used to get the first share every time Mom cooked Gajar ka Halwa in the season. She would not make it unless I was home. Even today, when I visit her, she makes sure she makes it, even if it is in less quantity.

Now, in my kitchen, where I'm the cook, with all these amenities at my disposal, spending two hours in kitchen seems like a big head-ache to me. I don't feel like doing it. I feel the difference in the taste of my food when I cut the vegetables with my hand, and when I cut them using slicer of FP. You would call it foolish but I've actually felt the difference. I would never admit it if anyone else in the family said that to me, but no one else says it...I myself feel the difference.

Our generation has got so impatient because of these automations that rather than making any sweets at home, we prefer buying it from outside. Thanks to the IT Sector boom (which again is attributed to Automation), our salary has gone so high that we need not worry about small expenses like sweets. Our parents used to cook at home because that saved cost. We couldn't care less.

I don't know if any of you feel that way but I've always felt that the food gets better when the feelings go into it. If someone cooks with love and care, the food is bound to taste better. More Attention, Better Results. And if someone cooks half-heartedly, the dish can never taste good, even if it's cooked by an otherwise-expert.

We're on the threshold of the times when moms not only stop cooking sweets but also stop cooking at all, and keep maids to cook. Do you ever think maids can bring that love, that health that 'you' could? I am myself on the point where I am tempted to get a maid for cooking but from within my heart, I know, I won't be doing good to my family, my child especially.

And, this is not just for cooking, it holds true for all things that are mechanical yet have manual intervention. I feel the snaps that were taken by expert photographers were taken by manual camera. Even today, serious, passionate photographers are suggested to go as manual as possible for improving on their snaps.

I wonder how long will I be able to keep away from this automated-world.

It's his birthday today...

It's my best friend's birthday today. I just talked to him. It's so unique a bond that we share. I call him a brother and he's penned us as 'Fribro n Frisis'. Friend-cum-sister :)

I had written about how I have been juggling of deciding whether to talk to him or stop being in touch at all. I have stopped counting how many times I have decided to stop all conversations. But, every time when he thinks of me (that's how I think it works), I can't stop myself from calling, or reaching him out. I get some kind of telepathic signal and I feel like talking to him.
Tarun doesn't like us to be in touch. He doesn't like me to be emotionally dependent on anyone but him. In these two years, I have tried to understand him, his reason behind it, and whether convinced or not, have followed him. I stopped talking to all my male friends, as in, the same way as I used to be. My contact with them is minimal. I have distanced myself I never thought was possible for me. I am the most asocial person anyone knows now. My office people don't even know there was a different Swati that existed ever before.
But, it's better that way. But, in case of Fribro, all rules stop to work.
Last time, I and Tarun talked on this subject, he had asked me  to stop all conversations with him. Before this, he was okay with my calling him once in a while, (not every week/day as it used to be). Last time, I had planned to meet him when I was gone to my Mom's place...without telling Tarun about it. I chickened out of that meeting. I couldn't do it. But, somehow, Tarun came to know of my now-dead-plans. He got really angry and asked me to stop any communication, whatsoever.

Today, it's  a holiday for my office but I'm still here. The moment I entered office premises, the thought of meeting Fribro came to mind. It was strong, really strong. I knew if I asked him to come, he'll. All I had to do was just say it. But, I couldn't do it. When his call came, I told him about my now-dead-again-plans. He told me he was planning the same yesterday, but didn't do it because he wasn't sure if I would be in office or not. He had no way of confirming it.
I am glad he didn't. Just like I didn't.

This path of truth is so difficult. This path has no way of showing it'll end in roses at the end. It's just my belief in two things - 1. I don't want lies to come in my relationship with my husband. 2. I don't want my relationship with my brother to get dirty by any lies. It has been so pure ever since I know, that I want it to remain like that. There's nothing wrong I did by being friends with him. A girl and a boy can be friends even without any platonic angle involved in it.  Why should I lie to be with him? I'm not being wrong in talking to him, or meeting him, so why should I lie about it?!

It's my belief that things will come around. They have to. We just have to wait for it. It's been two years since I married Tarun. It's been almost 3 years since I last met my Fribro. Our friendship, our emotions for each other, are still the same. I know, if I need him, he's just a call away. And, he won't ask for any reasons for staying out of touch, to forward a hand of help for me.
If any of us feels like there's nothing to wait for, the calls will stop. The end comes every time I put the phone down. But, it's never the end. :)
God, I will wait. If I'm right, I'll win at the end. And, I'll tell Anay about my Fribro one day with pride.

Adulthood

Life changes a lot after marriage. Everyone knows that. It changes a lot more if it is an arranged marriage. Many of us understand that difference too. And, the changes are not just because you left your home and settled into a new home, new setup, but because you come face to face with the real, bad world only now.

When I was a child, which I was till the time I entered the adult world (that is, got married), I used to be the ruler of my destiny. I never regretted anything in my life. Even if any of my actions backfired, I always took them as learning. I believed that as long as it's my decision, I would live by its consequences.

I dreamed of a home which I'll decorate on my own, in my way. I dreamed of a job where I'll be a name to reckon. I dreamed of a library which I'll set up, where people will come and read books, as long as they want. I dreamt/planned of settling abroad. I still dream of sending my son abroad for his studies.

I used to be very close to my friends. I had very limited friends but whoever I had, were more important to me than even my family members. I could sense their emotions, them, even on a phone call. I still feel connected to them sometimes. There's a friend of mine who was, rather 'is', very dear to me. We haven't talked in almost 2 years now. I don't know what went wrong. What happened... I tried getting back to her but never got the desired response. I want her back but now my ego is stopping me from calling back. But, I miss her. I have a feeling she's pregnant. She hasn't told me but there is something that tells me. Anyways, the point is that this is how close I have been with my friends. The telepathic connection was so strong.

But now...things have changed.

The house I dreamed of building, is a dream forever now. The interior designing I thought of giving my house, is a mirage and an impractical thought that I had in immature days.
The friends that I cherished and wanted to keep forever, have already withered into a black hole, as part of my whims and fancies.
The creativity I used to keep pouring out in some form or the other, is no more existing. I have settled for the Archies cards for special occasions, that I actually used as an additional item previously.
The way I wanted to raise my child, that seems to be going into the dreams part too.
The life I wanted for myself has become a part of the dreamworld.

The reason? The reason is this society. The rules this society has kept. I never believed in rules either. I lived by my rules, which I kept amending based on my understanding of things, with changing times. Now, I just follow the rules, as per the rule book. Why? Because it keeps everyone around me happy. And, I must not be so self-centered.

I wonder what is the difference between wishing for happiness and being self-centered. All the things I wished for are part of my 'self-centered' being. I know I can run away. That seems to be an ever-existing option for me. An option that I wanted to take soo many times in my life, but never did. I always had the guts but something always stopped me. It stops me still. I wish I could.

Oh Society! Please let me go. Please let me be. I want to live. I have existed long enough and I beg to not continue this way. Please don't force me into the rebellious world. I want to co-exist.

Freedom is what I yearn for, freedom is what I ache for.

Directions

What is it about road sense or directions and women?
Why do people react as if they have seen a woman strip, if they see her 'knowing' directions. Well, the jaw drops as much! Trust me.
Well, I am a woman who knows her way. I understand which cut to take when am travelling on familiar roads. I do not forget or get lost if I've to travel back to my home alone.

Today, when travelling to office, I was sitting in the front seat. The driver was new and had to be told directions. The person sitting at the back seat, thought that I wouldn't be knowing it at all, so he kept shouting the directions to the driver, for around 5 minutes. Now, in the morning, I like a peaceful drive to office. So, I silently started giving directions to the driver, with my hands, and sometimes vocally. The colleague stopped giving directions, thankfully.

But, even without turning my back, I could see/feel his eyes boring into my back, wide open with shock!
He was shocked that a girl could know/remember the directions so well. I was thinking inside my head, that I can give you alternate two routes to office, also. And I bet, you wouldn't be knowing one of them yourself!
So, fuck off!!
What the heck man!!!

At my office too, in my team, there's one girl. She lives just 5 minutes away from office. Almost everyone who comes to office, must be coming crossing her home. It is that near. And, she proudly says, "I do not know my route back home. I just sit in the office cab and wait for the cab driver to drop me. I don't care to see the route around."
I never ridiculed her on this nonsense/absent-mindedness. But, the other day, when we were going out for a party and I was telling the directions to my Manager (who was driving). She again said, I don't even know the directions from office to home.
$%^%^&@^!$%. This time, she asked for it.
Well, if you're a fool, that doesn't mean all the women on this earth are fools, Madamouiselle!
